Alignment of scanning lidars in offshore wind farms

Abstract. Long-range Doppler wind lidars are applied more and for high-resolution areal measurements in around farms. Proper alignment, or at least knowledge on how the systems aligned, is of great relevance here. The paper describes detail two methods that allow a very accurate alignment long-range scanning lidar without use extra equipment sensors. well-known so-called hard targeting allows precise positioning north using known positions surrounding obstacles, e.g. turbine towers. Considering multiple targets instead only one with given position an optimization algorithm us to increase information device minimizes consequences erroneous input data. method, referred as sea surface levelling, determines levelling during offshore campaigns terms roll pitch angles based distance water surface. This particularly well-suited installation minimize error from start, but it can also be used remotely measurement campaign verification purposes. We validated these data campaign, where commercial was installed transition piece platform turbine.
